Formed in 1987 as Hoffman Lester Associates, Inc. the firm changed its name in 2003 to HLA, Inc.

Founders Barry Whalen and John S. Lester currently serve as HLA’s President and Chairmen of the Board respectively. The firm employs a staff that includes licensed Professional Land Surveyors, licensed Professional Engineers, Engineers-in-Training and licensed Landscape Architects as well as technical support.
